Who knew pink trams were a thing ππ On our way to our Cornwall Air B n B recently we stopped in Seaton, Devon to ride the tram to Colyton – Dogs are allowed so Fred got to have his fist tram ride! πΆ
Seaton Tramway runs historic trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devonβs Axe Valley, it runs along the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves with amazing views of the wildlife – The trams date back to the 1950s, there are now 14 running along the route – they range in design and colours, on the way to Colyton we rode a traditional red tram and on the way back we got the pink one!
The tram takes around 25 minutes to run from Seaton to Colyton, and there is a stop along the way if you want to go for a walk in the nature reserve (more stops coming soon! The construction has been a bit held up since 2020) Colyton is a lovely little sleepy village, we enjoyed a wander and lunch at Toms Tacos before heading back to the tram station – At both stations there is information about the history of the line the trams themselves and the man who started it all, Claude Lane. There is also a tea room, Tramstop cafe, and a shop at Colyton – We grabbed a Salcombe Dairy ice cream while we waited for the tram back to Seaton, I had the award winning blackberry sorbet which was amazing π Once back in Seaton we went for a wander along the beach front, itβs a stoney beach but the coastal scenery is beautiful and dogs are allowed on the beach until May βοΈ
The tramway is a really lovely and unique experience to add to your trip to Devon
