Secret eats: Market Hall Victoria

Mark and I both work very close to Victoria station in London and recently discovered Market Hall Victoria a secret foodie paradise!

Tucked away right next to the Victoria Street tube entrance the hall is home to 13 unique food traders which showcase a variety of cuisine from around the world – There is something for everyone!

The market is set out on 2 levels, you can wander around and check out the food stalls around the edge of the building before finding a table anywhere in the centre. There is also a bar which was very busy with Christmas party groups when we visited.

The beauty of this place is that everyone in your group can eat exactly what they like, once you order from a food stall you are given a buzzer which alerts you when it is time to collect your food, this is great as it allows you to sit wherever you like or keep exploring the building until it is time to eat!

So where did we eat?

Mark chose Gopal’s Corner, the sister restaurant of Roti King in Kings Cross. We visited Roti King for Mark’s birthday this year and he loved it – The chain specialises in traditional Malaysian cuisine which Mark assures me is very close to the real deal. He ordered a traditional Roti and Beef Rendang – both were amazing and I will 100% be choosing Gopal’s Corner next time.

I spent around 20 minutes deciding what to order, there were so many places I wanted to try! In the end I opted for a fish finger sandwich from Kerbisher & Malt which is quite an unusual choice for me. They sent me off with a buzzer and cooked the whole thing fresh, I added a side of mushy peas and my favourite Rose lemonade to drink. It was a good sandwich but I would try something else next time.

We paid around Β£12 each for dinner and a drink, which is fairly reasonable for London and worth it for the setting and location next to the station.

If you are looking for some ‘secret eats’ in London definitely give the Victoria Market Hall a visit, it’s cool and has so many quirky food options there really is something for everyone!
