WDW The Plaza Restaurant – Review

I’ve been wanting to try out The Plaza Restaurant at WDW’s Magic Kingdom for SO long and we finally visited on our most recent trip.

I’ve always wondered why it was so hard to get a reservation, it turns out The Plaza is so small! There are only around 15 – 20 tables if that in the whole place. We made our reservation during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, it was pretty busy and they weren’t taking any walk ups at the podium where you check in so it was lucky we made the reservation in advance. So what did we order? Being the piglet I am the thing that drew me to the Plaza were the bottomless milkshakes… it’s exactly how it sounds, you order a milkshake and they refill it as many times as you like. I was even able to alternate flavours and the server gave me one to go!

For food I opted for the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese, one of the highlights from our last trip was the beef brisket mac and cheese from The Friar’s Nook in Fantasyland (which they sadly don’t sell anymore) so I was hoping this would live up to it. Unfortunately I didn’t LOVE this dish… the bbq sauce on the pulled pork was quite over powering plus it was SO BIG. I’m not sure if had eaten a lot earlier in the day or if the milkshake had already started to fill me up but it was sadly just too much food, as we were at the party I couldn’t even box it for later…

Mark had the Cheese Steak Sandwich …’Shaved Beef grilled with Onions, Mushrooms, Red Peppers, and White American Cheese served on a Hoagie Roll with choice of Seasonal Vegetables, Homemade Chips, or French Fries’ He asked for it without the red peppers and they were able to remove them. It was a big sandwich with lots of meat and he enjoyed it.

Due to all the milkshakes (we shared them… subtly, I don’t think it’s encouraged!) we didn’t get anything for dessert. I am absolutely gutted that I didn’t know the ‘Unbirthday’ Milkshake existed (read about here on the Disney Food Blog) as I 10000% would have ordered it! Overall we enjoyed our time at The Plaza and would go back, it’s a quiet oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Main Street with good food a reasonable prices. They have just started doing breakfast but reservations aren’t available at the time of our next trip yet, I am REALLY hoping they extend it because I need a fried green tomato eggs Benedict in my life… Have you had a good experience at the Plaza? I would love to hear your feedback below!
